Instagram is the new frontier of the marketing land. New, rapidly growing and exciting, it’s young and dynamic audience are the perfect target audience for a great many brands, and the image focused and mobile first platform is perfect for B2C brands looking to showcase their stylish products. Ads on Instagram are still a relatively new phenomenon. Instagram launched an ads API in August this year, which made ads available to all business around the world.

Because the age of Instagram ads can still be measured in months rather than years, the expertise needed to use them to maximum effect is still fairly rare. This is something Instagram want to change, so that more companies can use their ads products effectively and thus keep coming back for more. With that in mind, Instagram announced on November 10th that they would be launching the ‘Instagram partner program’, which is designed to help advertisers use Instagram to reach consumers. It currently involves 40 partners, and this list may well grow rapidly over the coming months.

Three sections of partners

The announcement stated that the partner program will be split into three sections, to help people looking to gain expertise in a certain area of Instagram Marketing can select the agency that’s right for them. The sections are broken down into:

-Ad tech – So that businesses can easily set up and manage ads, and target them using the full potential of Facebook’s vast amount of data.

-Community management – Allowing marketers to interact with their brand’s community and turn that engagement into ROI

-Content Marketing – Enabling businesses to source excellent content for their ads, making both the ads more effective and preventing Instagram’s visual aesthetic being diluted by poor quality ad content.

This development represents the latest move by Instagram to hone it’s ad offering, which has huge potential. Ad revenues from Instagram are projected to explode from 600 million this year to 2.8 billion in 2017 – that’s more than quadrupling in just two years!

Instagram revenue growth

It is also expected to overtake both Twitter and Google for US mobile display ad revenues by 2017, making Instagram a market leader in its own right, and meaning its owner, Facebook, will truly dominate the marketing ecosystem.
